A couple of friends of mine Lorie and Wanda were talking about how much they love watching love stories. I don't care for them, but came up with this image.

I drew the heart and then created a 3D version of it. For the weird wings, I just played and created them in 3D.

I was being sarcastic when I put the wings on crooked and off balance. Neither of them think that this is a funny image, maybe you will. What do you think?

Hexagon Carafe

I sure have missed playing with Hexagon! I have been working on learning 3D modeling, when I came across blender 3D, and decided to jump ship. *sigh* So far, I have about 20 products from Hexagon and 2 from blender lol
. What made me jump ship in the first place? Well Hexagon does not have a render engine, whereas blender has a built in renderer, game engine, rigging capabilities etc. I could actually produce a short animated movie (a dream of mine) but the proggie is really hard to learn. The interface and tools really get to me. Now I am back with my love Hexagon and still producing simple projects, but at least I am producing something...it's a back to the drawing board type of thing.
But for me it is frustrating. I really want to create and.produce my own characters and a short film. So, the time that I put into blender, I could have invested getting to know Hexagon better. Isn't life just funny like that? The moral of this story: **Haste makes waste **

I did this drawing using graphite pencils. Although in the beginning, she was 'packed' into her tutu, but after adding the flower...'packed' took on a whole other meaning. The flower she is smelling is hypnotic, overpowering, 'packed'!

I don't expect everyone to understand--most people don't. I had to put my dear friend to sleep on Sunday. He was a malamute/siberian husky mix. We would have been together 10yrs this coming March.

He was a faithful and devoted one who taught me how to love God even more, by the way he always greeted me...with anticipation, lots of love and happiness. I will miss my Blu he was such a blessing, when I got him almost 10yrs ago--that was the first time that I realized that God gave us the desires of our hearts.

I have always had pets of every kind, but I always wanted a 'wolf dog' with blue eyes...as I called the dog I didnt have a name for it when I was a little girl So please know that yes, God does give us the desires of our hearts. Don't lose sight of the vision whatever it is

Please forgive the messiness. I was at work just doodling, trying to test charcoal on a used piece of paper, while thinking about my Blu .

Weekend Doodle #10--Distraught

Here are some doodles I did this past weekend. I was trying out various graphite, carbon and charcoal both alone and in combinations for different rendering effects.

The top effect will now serve as my clouds, what a wonderful surprise I found while playing around. Last week I was online and when I got off I unplugged the ethernet as usual when getting off and went off to do whatever it was that I usually do other than internet search.

Well, the next day when I plugged the ethernet back up, now all of a sudden my laptop will not connect to the internet. I played around for hours, bought a new ethernet and still cannot connect. Now I'm distraught.

Usually I scan my postings, but this one was in my large Canson 11x14 sketch book which I reserve for portraits drawings. I took a picture of it, because the scanner bed is too small. Yukkkkkkkkk!

Now the tears fall. HELP if you can, I do not know what else to do. Oh, and by the way the ethernet connection DOES work on the desktop, but of course, yep, you guessed it, all of my goodies are on my laptop :(

EDM #15--Draw a tree

Here is my submission to EDM #15--Draw a tree, or leaves. I decided to draw a tree in my backyard that decided to fall over when hurricane Rita came through mmmmm about 4 years ago.

It fell on the house behind me where two older ladies (sisters) lived. Thankfully they were ok. At about 1:30 am on a Saturday morning, I was sitting at my computer when I heard a loud thudddddddd as the house shook simultaneously.

When I looked outside my dog was standing there frozen. I turned on the spotlight, walked out and stopped dead in my tracks. The police and the city came out, and inspected but there was no visible damage, the tree was removed, the women were ok.

I thought that was the end of it. However, a week later their bathroom ceiling caved in. Geeeeeeeeesh! Her son came banging on my door at crazy hours with threats of law suits etc.

A tree in the front fall on the neighbor's house across the street from me. She was fine also. Another in the front started leaning toward the neighbor on my left. He offered, and paid half of the cost to remove it. Boy, it sure is hot on that side of the house now.

The fourth came down one Sunday afternoon, no winds, no storms nothing. But I'm sure it was stressed after the hurricanes, so many trees started cracking, its a horrible sound to hear it. Well it fell onto another neighbors driveway, and she said that just 10 mins earlier she decided to move her car. TREES!!!!

I will never forget hurricanes Rita and the other that was close with her. I used 0.7 mechanical pencil, B, HB and 2B graphite pencils

Here are some clouds that I have done for EDM challenge #74. Although I did not think that this would be easy, I by no means thought for one minute that it would be so hard to make clouds that actually looked like clouds either lol.

I worked on these bad boys, there is no disputing that at all no way! But I also know that in the future, clouds need a bit more tender loving care from me.

Hey, have you noticed that I'm just clock full of cliches today with this posting rofl..Well, I guess it's cause my futures' looking bright, and I gotta wear shades :)

Weird Half Face

This is a doodle I did last night while at work. It was only a half face because when I plan to doodle *my warm up exercises* I do it on pages that already have some doodie doodles on them. So she ran into some crazy rat faced character on her left side.

I didn't get to do as much as I wanted, but was surprised that this came out

EDM #36--Draw in Public

Here are some sketches I did today while at the Department of Motor Vehicle. They fit well for the EDM #36 challenge, draw in public. There were 4 older gentlemen sitting in the row right in front of me and they had such beautiful faces. I had put off this challenge because I felt soooooooo intimidated about even attempting to draw in public.

As a teen I would sit under a tree in public and do it freely! Wow how things change. To my surprise however, the man next to me was very quiet and polite as his eyes lingered onto my paper.

The woman who was passing by, stopped and tried to look as if there were no more seats, lol..but I didnt get nervous and that was beause I just zoned out! Had fun and here are 4 men..well 3 and a half :)

I used HB, 2B, B graphite pencils and a little mechanical pencil, which I believe is my favorite :)

Weekend Doodle #9--Just Some Stuff :)

Here are some of this past weekend's doodles. I had fun as usual, Im loosing up more. I finally came to the realization that this is my art, and since I love doing it, it should be fun and without pressure or comparison to another.

The above mentioned qualities all imposed on me, by *cough* me. Soooo, now I'm more free in my thinking. Still loving it and having more fun as a result.

We had storms all over the state of Georgia yesterday, I got in the middle of the house just in case a tornado dropped. Wow I didnt think I would fall asleep especially on hard wood floors, can you say ouchhhhh!

EDM #175--Draw a basket

Here is my answer to EDM challenge #175 draw a basket. This basket originally held a pot which had a beautiful peace lily. Now with a plastic bag inside, it serves as a waste basket for my office.

No need to discuss why the peace lily no longer resides here. Too painful to think about, but I know it is probably a very nice mulch for someone :)

I kept looking at my basket, and although it is not a deeply detailed product, I like it a lot

Weekend Doodle #8--Day Dreaming

Here are some Weekend Doodles. I went to Day dream land and played around, not having a reference of anything to practice with, but using my imagination as a road map to getting something down on paper. And, on a loose page at that geesh! Don't you hate having to keep up with those?

I have been working on my first portrait and have done it 3 times, but the picture was so small that it distorted when enlarged and printed and I will have to redo it again. I suppose you can say that I'm taking a break from it. Im also learning a lot from it too.

I used a mechanical pencil, 2B and HB graphite pencils to have fun with. I hope that you are having a fantastic Memorial Day and thanks to all of the brave men and women who defend this great country of ours! The weather is gorgeous today, it is warm with a slightly cool breeze. All I can say is thank God! Last year this time Atlanta was buring up, we did not have a spring, only winter and summer lol

Face Practice

Here is a baby I was trying to get the likeness of. I'm having a hard time with likenesses so far, but Im learning more and more about portraits the more I do them. I have been working on a baby's portrait for a couple of weeks now. Well, actually I drew the portrait 3 times, but they are not good enough. I will try to work on starting her over again this weekend.

We had 15 tornadoes to come through metro Atlanta last weekend, on Mother's Day, this weekend looks to be a nice one. I sure hope so :)

EDM #31--Collection

Here is my entry to EDM #31 Collection. I have about 10 sets of salt and pepper shakers. I did not start this, my mother did. About 2 years ago, she started giving me salt/pepper sets, and I told her that I did not care for nick nacks etc. As far as I was concerned, that would be more things for me to break. (You did not hear me claim to be clumbsy :).

Her argument was that everyone needed to collect something, my argument was that I collected pens and pencils lol..Well I gave in to her sad puppy dog look and put all of the sets over my kitchen sink, I used to put plants up there. They had to find a new home.

It hurt her so badly when she came over expecting to see them out of the box, that I finally put them up. Now that she is gone, I have an appreciation for them and smile when I look at them.

Now, I will not say that I will go out and add to the collection,but I will say that the ones I have will stay with me. Atlanta is cool and dreary today, we are expecting storms this evening.

We are so thankful for all of the rain, I don't think that anyone is complaining about it, especially after an 11 year drought. I used B,2B and HB graphite pencils.

Here is my entry for EDM draw something Halloween etc. He started out as being something that I am scared of. But I could not find the challenge number lol. Anyways here he is in all his glory "Mr Debt" aka "The Debt Monster*shudder*

Notice the shifty eyes, jagged teeth and the blood thirsty look.He was done with HB, 2B and 6B pencils, thanks for looking and watch out! He grows and growls fast and often!

I'm still working out tones, I took the smile from a refe rence, but the woman's face was from imagination. I'm working on tonal values along with proportions. Although I like the face, excluding the eyes. Workkk! *cough*

Now, looking, I think that I can do a bit more work on her.

Here is my EDM #98--Free Choice. Well as you can I did take the liberty of drawing anything I darn well pleased! lol.

Actually this is from an online tutorial, and incase you didn't recognize it, this is an avacado.

It is done without laying down any begining lines, but using squigglys instead to shape and form the fruit. This is a great lesson in values using HB, 2H and 2B pencils. I plan on redoing it. I learned a lot.

EDM #141--Draw something with bristles

Here is my bristle challenge for EDM. I really hate the way it scanned out.

It actually does look better than this lol. THis is a small paint brush, that I use to brush away all of the erasings from my drawings.

It took me the longest time to realize, ok self..you work hard trying not to put your hands on the paper soooooooooo why are you brushing the paper with your hand.

EDM #4--Draw your cup

Here is my EDM challenge, draw your mug or cup. This coffee cup drawing does not do the original a lot of justice but I will get better over time. The original has a drawing of Alaskan life on the river.

This is one of the many cups that I got when I was living in Alaska. Anica is the name of a village I THINK, but I do know that it was the name of a grocer in Bethel where I lived for 18 months.

I miss living there, the people are oh so different and live at a much slower pace of life. The big factor that will keep me away from there are the 8 to 9 months of winter. It is extremely icy and dangerous.

The natives still do a lot of living off of the land, and are always helping neighbors. It is another world compared to Atlanta. The Yupik Eskimoe are a people anyone would love.

They are a bit slow to warm up to you, but once they do they are a friend for life, unless they feel that you have wronged them, then they will not have anything else to do with you. They are bad about holding grudges.

Frustrated!

Ughhhhhhhh! I get soo frustrated. I have been learning about different papers and their textures as well as differences between brands of pencils. A month ago, I bought this really cool sketch book that is spiral bound which is great because the paper lies flat.

But the paper is oh so slick, and very hard for me to work with. It has no tooth at all...I get so frustrated.

The larger Bristol pads intimidate me, and I do not care to fold back the pages. I will have to get over this hurdle..Oh and I need to practice more too.

I guess most of my frustration comes from being able to 'see' things, but not get the proportions down correctly. Excuses, excuses!

Hmmm 5 excuses in this post! Geesh! I need to stop listening to the lazy voice that comes up more times than I would rather see lol

Colored paper! Yea maybe try some colored paper, and I will magically begin to draw beautiful things!!

Weekend Modeling1

I did 2 pretty good portrait drawings this week, one on Wednesday and another on Thursday. Boy! That's really something for me. But there is still work to be done on both as far as blending and more tonal values are concerned. Yesterday, I was sitting at my desk looking back and forth between my reading glasses, and my phone trying to decide which I would try next.

Well, I finally ditched the idea, opened my laptop and played with a freebie modeling proggie, CB Model Pro, and came up with this bunny, I call Mr Rabbit. I'm pretty sure that once I work him out further, his own texture map would do him wonders. Andddddd...if I really feel up to it, I can bone him so that I can animate his face too!

Since this was freestyle, with no preliminary sketch, I would literally have to go back to the drawing board to finish his body. I hadn't used it in months, but I swear compared to Hexagon and Wings3D which are not hard to use, CB Model pro is as easy as putting a pencil to paper...almost!

I rendered him in Poser for numbers 1,2,and 3 views, the last and more colorful one (4) was painted inside the proggie. I had never used the paint engine before. I modeled Mr Bunny in about 2 and a half hours, not sure how long it took to paint him, maybe 10 mins.

Weekend Doodle #6--Working it out!

Here are some of my doodles from this weekend. I did these on both Saturday and Sunday. It wasn't until someone commented on my doodles last week that I realized ok oh well, they really ARE little drawings like someone mentioned.

I had to look at my doodle doodles to realize this. So I suppose that my Weekend Doodles are really doodles that are worked out, because they usually do start out as squiggly lines, circles and other what nots.

I also, as ever, worked out more textures too, I am pleased with some of the textures that I have created. I used 2B & 4B carbon pencils, along with HB, 2B, & 8B graphite pencils

EDM #92--Draw a brown paper bag

Here is my effort for EDM's challange of drawing a paper bag. I squinted until I had to refocus my eyes in an effort to see more values rather than the huge blur that had my eyes crossed lol.

Again, I need to work on more values on the scale of black to white. There are many beautiful shades in between I'm learning. I have only been working with 3 so far; darkest, mid, and lightest.

Also, I tried adding texture to the bag. I'm having fun learning more and more!

I think that my bag is kinda cute! Thanks for looking and as always your comments are very much appreciated!

Here are some more of my weekend doodles. I was trying to get more tonal effects in my work. As I doodled the various shapes, I tried imagining different light sources, although the more I look at them--the more they seem to have the same one lol..but I'm a learning!

I used HB, 2B, 3B and tried one of my charcoal pencils. I really do not like charcoal pencils. Using them is like hearing nails scratching a chalk board! Yukkkk! I would like to try the Wolff's carbon pencils though

The Amber Award

Here is a great award that one of my neices gave me this past November. I call it the Amber Award, because of her name. It had been resting on my refrigerator and when she gave me this, I was moved to tears. Then she showed me the back side and the tears began to fall.

Earlier in the evening she asked me if I were an art teacher and I blushed like crazy lol. It was later on that I was presented with this wonderful surprise. I felt like I was somebody lol.

In January after she and her sister were going through my sketch books and looking at a failed attempt at a water color painting, her sister Alycia exclaimed "Auntie Pam, are you an artist?" Hmm an artist I had never thought of myself that way before. I will totally accept that! :)

Now, I have some sense of how parents feel when their children draw or paint pictures for them. I am going to move my Amber Award from my fridge and put it into a frame that I have already picked out. Thank you Auntie's princesses for making me feel so special. Maybe the next time we are together, we will make more refrigerator magnets or try our hands again at making keychains :)

EDM #33--Draw an Eye

Here is my challenge for EDM #33 Draw an Eye. This morning when I got up there was no electricity because of the storms that had come through overnight. The house was such a peaceful quietness that was sooo very calming. There was no music playing (my favorite way to draw) or the television on for noise. Absent also were the sounds of the refrigerator or the heater coming back to life to contend with.

There was nothing but complete stillness and quiet. I drew two different eyes and wanted to also add a matching pair. I am pleased with what I have completed in these 2 single eyes. It isn't easy to find good pictures of eyes in magazines that have enough clarity and detail to work from. I got these from one of my books.

Thank you for looking, I also look forward to your comments. The graphite pencils I used were H,B, and 2B. I'm working on various face parts and hope to put them together to make a face..well errr draw from someone's face that is lol.

Weekend Doodle #3--Different pencils

Here are some of the better doodles that I did yesterday. It was a very relaxing day and I hadn't done anything in a while. All of a sudden I heard myself say..."Self, you should go get a new sketchbook" and then I said outloud "Ok Self, sounds good to me!" and off I went lol. I hope that my dry season has come to a close. Although I carry my sketchbook everywhere I go, I just didnt get the urge to do any doodling let along any challenges in EDM..I hope to get back into those soon..I also got a new book too...I'm a bad gurl with a busted budget lol!

EDM #10--Draw a hand

Here is my effort for EDM, Every Day Matters yahoo group. The orignal in my sketch book looks much better, this is how the scan came out. I started one earlier in the day but as I was doing my outter lines someone came to the door...of course, and I could not get the thumb to stop looking like a foot lol.

EDM #24 -- Draw a piece of fruit

Here is my offering for EDM #24 Draw a piece of fruit. Which I drew with a 2B pencil. I still have a long way to go. This was a pear that came in a beautiful Christmas basket which had about 6 or 7 different cakes on the top, and pears along with other fruits on the botton.

It was not until after all of the sweets were gone did we realize that there hard to be something else in the basket. It was so heavy. If my sister had not looked under the straw this un edible pear would be in even worse shape lol.

I Hate Clowns

Well, not me, I really don't hate clowns, but ummm let's name her Melissa. Yea, Melissa sure does. Actually she was one of the first faces I tried drawing with a reference photo..well of course I will say she is EXACTLY like the ref photo rofl..but not so!

Her face is a bit more stretched and yes that was the expression..but the original photographer will not recognize her at all! I started this a few months ago in the summertime, and later as I was trying out the different pencils, drew the hideous clown.lol

My nephew gave me a HUGE sketch book last Christmas, 2006 that is. It is a Canson 11x 14 size paged book. I was scared to draw in it...I always start somewhere in the middle anyway, but I was just scared and definately didnt want any of my doodles in it lol..(the clown is a doodle!)

I reserve it mainly for human subjects. (I will let you know how long that lasts) My favorite sketch book which is 8 1/2 x 11 only has 12 clean free pages left. I played with Melissa a bit more today. And I can now say I'm finished. My eraser is leaving marks now -- so yes she is finished lol

EDM #26 -- Draw anything you like

New Year Berry

This is my challenge to EDM #26 Draw aything you like. Like a lot of things I start on, this one started out as something else. Then of course my "other" self grabbed the pencil and traveled off to Fantasy Land.

This is where the New Year Berry resides. As you can see *If you put on your imagination glasses*, there are clusters of berries which have a reddish color and darker base which actually softens as it ages into bloom. The strange flower like flute at the top emerges as a magnificent flower which is multifaceted. Local legend says that the forest animals such as deer and others eat the berries and are healed, their coats restored, and they appear youthful.

It only appears on New Year's Day and is in this present state until the first day of spring when it blooms for a month only to dissappear again until the following New Years Day.

Well, I thought it was cute lol

Weekend Doodle #2 -- Cheesy Clown

Here is my doodle for today lol..I did him when I got home from work.

I named him Cheesy Clown because I sure did want my favorite dessert tonight, cheesecake! My favorite is not sold in the grocers and the ones that staredback at me looked pitiful to say the least. I have quite a collection of various cheesecake recipes but have never made one yet.

When I was a teenager one of my aunts --Aunt Alma, used to make them from scratch, she was also the head baker at Bush Gardens..no one could bake the way she did. That was my first introduction to my delicious treat. To me, there is nothing as fabulous as cheesecake topped with whipped cream which is stacked high and poofs like little clouds. The cheeries on top are so big and juicy, with juice that rolls down the sides of the cake and pools onto the saucer *whew!*--All on the right cheesecake of course!

I then sit with my right leg under me, tap and twirl the left, all while savoring each and every bite! It is pleasurable to me lol. I actually look like Cheesy Clown when I'm just thinking about cheesecake. I have smiles from ear to ear. So far I have only found one place that serves cheesecake anything similar to Aunt Alma's. One day I will bake the perfect cheesecake *yeah right, huh".

My goal for my Daily Doodle is to draw something quick and hopefully cute. I did take much more time then I wanted to because I kept changing his mouth. And yet, it still isn't right. Oh well, that's what practice is for :)

Note to self: Why is he blue instead of black? *sigh*

Weekend Doodle #1 -- Unemployed Elf

This quick sketch is of an unemployed elf. I am reading Andrew Loomis's book FUN WITH A PENCIL. I am enjoying it and trying out some of the exercises.

I wonder what those elves do after those long and tiring days of Christmas picking and packing toys. And how do they THEN manage to load the sleigh, ride along and THEN assist Santa as he put out all sorts of goodies to the children of the world anyway!

Well, I don't know about you, but to me he sure looks worn, hagged and just a tab bit worried :)

2008 Goals

Well, we were challenged in EDM to put down our art goals for 2008. My Goal Buddy stated that I did them fast lol. It wasn't that they were done hastily, they were already at the forefront of my mind and it felt good to write them down.

I think about them a lot and having a Goal Buddy will challenge me to push past anxieties, begin trying to get those things that I see in my dreams out of my head, and begin to get things done.

I will probably add more as the year progresses, but these are the things that are on my mind a lot.

*I plan to start atleast 3 more sketchbooks this year--I organized the types of sketching I put in each one this year, but I want to be better organized

*Post atleast once a week in my blog, with the hopes of being able to
post more often before summer begins

*I want to dwelve more into watercolor and acrylic painting--I have some *cough* but I want to paint something that is recognizable

last, most important, but definately not least--this is a pain but WHY?!!? lol

*I have to work on being more focused, sealing time to myself so that I can get busy
creating for my greeting cards.

EDM #1 Shoe

This is my first challenge in EDM which stands for Every Day Matters a yahoo group. I like it. There is no pressure, you work at your own pace and progress. The people there are helpful too. There are other in the group that paint, make jewelry, scrapbook and all sorts of creative things. But just as the group name implies, Every Day Matters. I'm glad I found the group.

I wasn't sure of the first challenge, I was thinking that it was Shoes plural, but I'm glad it was only to draw a shoe lol...the other shoe was more pitiful looking and really off balance, that is why the picture is cropped.

Frazzled

Today, this Christmas Eve 2007 I'm a bit frazzled. Not because of the shopping, running around etc. but because I lost my best friend on Dec 3. I have spent every holiday alone at one time or another in my life..but I could atleast hear her voice if we were not close enough to hug.

We had the longest relationship I have ever had..a whole 45yrs. (The last time I will ever admit that lol) There were times we wanted to divorce eachother, but we always came back together, she taught me to not go to bed angry. Im still working on that.

I know she loved me unconditionally because, someone who truly loves you may not inturn always agree..but that love is there no matter how many bad days or quirky faults you have. It is called accepting a person for who they are.

She became my best friend as I entered adulthood, and we talked about everything under the sun from sex, drugs, rock n roll and everything in between.

She was the only person I have ever known who ever really knew and understood me..and yet, still she loved me. Not because she had to, I know this because while you may know a person, it takes love to want to understand them.

No, she didn't agree with everything I said or did, as she taught me someone of that character meant you no good..but when I needed a cheering section she was there always. She taught me how to love life, live life and how not to let the chains a boxed mind, capture and keep me.

She challenged and encouraged me. When something bothered me and I asked "What am I gonna do now" her response was always "You are gonna do better". I know that because of the quality time that God gave us together, and all of the gifts that she passed on to me throughout my life, that it will be hard, to just "do better", but I know that because I was blessed to have her in my life, I have the skills that will enable me to be able to do so.

It was nothing at all for me to do as much as I could, whatever I could do to comfort and assist her. She has never abandoned or left me when I needed her.

Yet that demon Cancer thought it would have the first and final say, but Jesus did instead. She was taken away and carried into his bosom before unbearable pain would come to her door.

For years whenever someone lost a loved one I would always share Isaiah 57:1. The Lord showed it to me one day while I was searching and I thought that was a much needed scripture, but secretly worried if people would be offended by it.
Now, as I need it, I see it as a promise fulfilled and comfort in knowing it.

God promised that we would not feel the sting of death.

The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come--Isiah 57:1

I know that I will see you again one day mama in heaven, whole, new, healthy and still being silly together and sporting that famous smile you have. We both accepted Christ as Lord and savior of our lives. Where will your soul be one minute after you die?

I will love, need and miss you always and forever. I thank God for the time we had
